They share similarities, but they are differentiated by conditions intrinsic to the gender. The crisis was a setback for entrepreneurship in Spain , but over the last decade the numbers have not stopped improving, especially those of female entrepreneurs . What is the context of this figure in our country?
According to data from the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers , in Spain there are already 1.1 million female entrepreneurs eager for opportunities. That is, 35.6% of the total is represented by a gender that has historically been limited. Growth over the last decade amounted to 52,878 affiliates in 2018 .
On the occasion of the recent celebration of Women's Day , at MÁSMÓVIL Negocios we want to outline the profile of the entrepreneurial woman in Spain.

Youth, expectations and lack of resources
The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Spain 2018-2019 study reveals some very useful patterns when it comes to identifying female entrepreneurs in our country . Broadly speaking, they are between 25 and 34 years old and have university studies.
What challenges do they face? Only 20% show an ambitious attitude towards growth , while almost 4 in 10 are afraid of failure . The reason behind this trend has cultural roots, as only 31.5% of men are afraid of failure.
52.2 % of women have a network of contacts , both acquaintances and business contacts, who are also entrepreneurs. This is a determining factor when it comes to starting a business, taking into account the existing financing problems.
The Anyway Global Entrepreneurship Study 2018 provides other interesting data: only half of them see themselves capable of starting a business, while only 29% claim to have some ability to obtain the aforementioned financing .
Strengths and virtues of the Spanish female entrepreneur
What is driving women to lead the growth of Spanish entrepreneurship ? A study by the Sabadell Coterfam Centre claims that it is due to their creative capacity, which is notably superior to that of their counterparts. And that is not all.
They also stand out for their optimism despite the setbacks of the socioeconomic context, and their resilience when it comes to recognizing their own merits and achievements. They are able to multitask without compromising the quality of the tasks, and they have more interpersonal skills to close agreements and create businesses.
The woman of the 21st century is more independent than any other and this is also reflected in her entrepreneurship . It is not surprising that both the private sector and public institutions are planning all kinds of aid and advisory programs to continue supporting her take-off.
Aids and programs
Last year, the Government presented the "Shock Plan for Youth Employment 2019-2021" ; an aid program that aims to reduce youth unemployment by 23.5% by the end of 2021. The aid in this case is general, but it has efforts aimed at entrepreneurial women .
Its sixth objective states: " Develop specific training in equal opportunities between men and women to eliminate gender bias, combat horizontal segregation and the gender pay gap ."
On the other hand, in terms of financial support, the Women's Institute and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce are developing the PAEM . This programme offers material help, advice and business guidance. The amount that can be accessed is in the form of a microcredit, and in some cases amounts to 25,000 euros without the need for collateral.
The event also offers a variety of events and talks, and even a forum for cooperation and exchange of experiences. Perhaps the most interesting is the mentoring proposal "W&W Women's Wisdom" , which seeks to create a network of contacts made up of established businesswomen willing to help newcomers.
