Navigation on the site can be implemented in 4 forms:

Text. Links to sections of a web resource or external sites look like plain text.

Graphic. With this design, navigation looks more attractive. To create graphic navigation, use drawn menu elements and buttons.

HTML site navigation. Various forms allow you to hide an extensive menu so that it is visible only when the user hovers over the root folder. Using such navigation, you save a lot of space on the page.

Java and flash technologies. Such a menu can be made more interactive and provide certain effects when hovering over it or clicking on a link. This type of navigation is the most difficult to implement, but it looks more impressive than the others.

Taking into account what type of web resource is being developed, the specialist selects the optimal navigation option that corresponds to its goals and objectives. Properly selected navigation allows you to make the site as convenient as possible for the user and push him to the target action.

Site navigation structure
The structure of individual pages and the structure of the site as a whole differ from each other. In the first case, the structure establishes where you can go to a given page from and where you can get from it. As for the general structure (map) of the site, it allows you to see how all the pages of the web resource are connected to each other. The map can be represented as an oriented graph, the vertices of which are the addresses of web pages, and the arcs are hyperlinks.

The most basic one is linear.

Here, all web pages are interconnected with each other so that they can only be visited in a certain order. And if you find yourself on a page in the middle of a web resource, then you can only move in one direction. You can't go back.

Linear reversible.

Here you can move in both directions, going to both the next and the previous page.

Ring.

Ring navigation structure
This is a linear structure where you can go from the last page to the first one. Due to this, you repeatedly go through any page without leaving the web resource.

Hierarchical.

There are two options for a hierarchical structure. It can be simply hierarchical (where, for example, it is possible to go from the second page to the fourth or from the fourth to the second, i.e. return is allowed) or a hierarchical dead-end, where there is no reverse. Such web resources, alas, also exist. In this case, it is assumed that return is possible using the corresponding browser button. But many users may simply not know that it exists.
