The SRG and the young

Post by asimj1 »

In its public service report, the Federal Council suggests that the SRG should focus more on reaching younger users - on the Internet. However, these young media users are already well supplied with media. No, not just with Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook, but also with information about daily events. Private Swiss media providers already reach over 80 percent of 14 to 34 year old Internet users (Net-Metrix Profile 2016-1).

There is therefore no market failure israel rcs data here. There is no need for government intervention. Worse still: if the SRG expands here, it will endanger media diversity. The high level of attention for its own offerings enables private media companies to refinance themselves. This is at risk if the SRG forces its way into the market with competing offerings.

On October 4, 2016, persoenlich.com reported on the SRG Snapchat project surrounding last summer's open-air festivals. It's hard to imagine anything that is further removed from the public service mandate than complementary reporting on an open-air festival on Snapchat. Pure entertainment and inexpensively provided by private individuals.
