Why are sitemaps very important?
When creating websites for my clients, I also take self employed data care of creating a sitemap to speed up Google's indexing of the content created. In the case of young sites with no backlinks or external mentions, in fact, it allows you to signal to crawlers the presence of the various contents, sorted by importance : it is a good way to speed up scanning and to ensure that all web pages are indexed.

Maps are especially important for very large portals, because they allow you to report all the published content, preventing some from not being scanned by bots. If your pages are poorly linked to each other - bad! - this practice helps you to let crawlers know what there is to index, also in the assistance of a structure of internal connections (links) between the pages.

Creating a sitemap does not automatically help you reach the first position on Google , but it is certainly an important activity to facilitate the work of search engine crawlers, and is the basis of your goal.

How to create a sitemap?
As we have seen, the search engine map is an important element to facilitate the discovery of new content on your site and to provide visitors with an additional navigation tool. For this purpose, the sitemap in XML format must be easy and clear to consult, thanks to an orderly division of content between the different categories.

If your site is made with CMS Wordpress , there is a plugin that is just right for you: Yoast SEO . Once you have installed and activated the plugin, in the General section of the panel, you only have to mark the XML Sitemaps item with the ON status and save to activate the service. The plugin also takes care of, as per the settings, updating the map when new content is published.
