Plugins to optimize images in WordPress

Post by tongfkymm44 »

If you are one of those who prefer to use plugins to optimize WordPress images without having to worry about doing it before uploading them, I will tell you some of the ones you can use. But honestly, keep in mind that they are a help, but everything you can upload as a base will be much better for the loading of your website , since , no matter how few resources they use, they always represent an extra load that we can often avoid.

Having well-optimized images should be part of every web design roadmap . However, it often happens that no matter how cautious you are when uploading them, there are always some that slip through. In that case, don't panic. This doesn't mean you should start searching like crazy through all your images. That's what plugins are for . Yes, it couldn't be any other way.

Therefore, the ones I'm going to tell you about below are going to become your best direct mail mortgage marketing list allies for your WordPress images . But not before telling you that there are other plugins for WordPress (also for WooCommerce if you have an online store) that you can also install on your website if you already have the image optimization under control and need other extra features. Listen to this podcast and find out which ones they are!

Listen to this episode of Paradisers on iVoox , iTunes or Spotify .

WP-Smush
This plugin is possibly one of the most used for our purpose, because as you can see on its download page within the WordPress repository, it has more than a million downloads and is updated very regularly (which gives a lot of security).

Although it has a Premium version, the free version allows you to automatically lastdatabase optimize the photos you upload (always with a maximum size of 1MB), as well as the ones you have already uploaded. And something that also helps is the possibility of indicating a maximum size for the images , so if you upload any that exceed this , it will automatically resize them to the dimensions you have specified.

EWWW Image Optimizer
Another of the best options you can have to reduce images in WordPress and that will get you out of more than one tight spot when you have to compress your photos and make them lighter. It works similarly to Smush, being able to compress JPG, PNG and PDF files with hardly any loss of quality.

Optimizer.io
A free plugin developed by Webempresa. To use it you will have to register for free on their website and you will receive a confirmation email with the download. The results are very good, obtaining a compression of between 20% and 70% . In addition, you will not have to do anything after installing it, as it takes care of carrying out this compression automatically. However, you have to keep in mind that it only compresses the images, but does not resize them.

Imagify
Premium version that we can download from here . In its free version we opt for up to 25MB per month for images that have a maximum weight of 2MB. Its configuration is very basic and simple and consists of indicating the optimization levels and letting the plugin itself do the rest of the work . In addition, in the gallery you can see the compression statistics (something very useful to check the work it is doing, and to take it into account when generating the photos before uploading them).

Imsanity
This plugin “only” has one function, but it solves the biggest problem that has happened to all of us , and that is resizing images. I won’t spoil anything when I tell you that photos tend to increase in weight the larger they are, so by resizing them to their actual size, you will automatically achieve a reduction in their weight.

Imsanity allows you to configure the maximum width, height and quality of the images you have stored as well as those you will upload after installation. This ensures that even if you upload a larger image, it will be automatically resized.

A3 Lazy Load
As I said at the beginning of the article, images have a huge impact on the loading speed of a website . So, how about we “trick” Google with this plugin? It has the option to make the photos load as the user scrolls . With this, you will achieve an improved loading speed since they will not have to load all at once.

WebP Express
This is the plugin I was talking about at the beginning for the WebP image format. Its main advantage is that, in addition to optimizing the quality and weight of the images, it has the option of serving them in WebP format , a much lighter format for the web.

And the interesting thing is that it detects if the browser supports this type of format, so if it doesn't support it, it will offer the original format to make sure that everyone can see them. It really is a highly recommended plugin to speed up your website, precisely because of the possibility, as I was saying, of offering them in a perfect format for the web.

As you can see, there are several things to keep in mind when optimizing images in WordPress, and several options (of course there are many more than those I indicate in this post) to achieve our objective. From doing it more manually for the most meticulous, to doing it more automatically for those who prefer to save time. And mind you, I'm not saying that one or the other is better than the other. Each project has its resources and its management, so you have to know how to assess what is best for each one.
