1. Winding Tree
This company is developing a decentralized platform for booking travel. Winding Tree aims to eliminate third-party intermediaries through blockchain technology and thus significantly reduce the price by up to 20%.

2. ShoCard and SITA
ShoCard and SITA have set out to revolutionise the travel industry through identity management. Although the project is still in its early stages, the platform is expected to pave the way for identifying individuals at hotels or airport check-ins.

3. Trippki
This project is about creating a loyalty system via the blockchain . Trippki puts customers canada phone number data and companies in the travel sector in direct contact. Customers are assigned a series of “ tokens ” for staying, for example, at a certain hotel and these are recorded on the blockchain, so they do not expire and can be used at any time.

The challenges that remain to be addressed
Blockchain technology is still in its early stages of life. There is a consensus about its potential; however, it is still very difficult to know how far it can go and how it will affect industries such as tourism.

Personally, I think there are two main challenges in this area. Firstly, personal identification. The very nature of technology can be an obstacle in this area. That is why there is an increasing attempt to regulate the entry of personal data on the web, with specific measures such as the GDPR or the growing implementation of permission marketing . The future of blockchain technology in this area will be to provide users with greater protection.

Similarly, standardisation will be a challenge that this technology will have to adapt to. Although blockchain is used as the base technology, each company, organisation or group can create its own network and include its own algorithms (as has happened with cryptocurrencies), which makes communication between different networks difficult.

Without a doubt, the rapid implementation of this technology in different markets and the changes in consumer behavior, which is increasingly familiar with this type of concepts, make us aware that blockchain will be more present in our lives in the coming years, adapting to the different challenges and needs of users. In this way, we will be able to enjoy tourism in a much more reliable and secure way.
