Text is still important for search engines to understand the content of a page.

As we all know, the World Wide Web no longer consists only of text and images; audio and video content are also becoming very popular. Those who offer the latter on their websites cannot avoid text if they want their pages to be easy to find in search engines.

This is certainly true for Google, as John Müller has now announced. A user asked him on Reddit what he could do, since his website primarily consists of audio content (podcasts, etc.). Müller replied that a page always needs content in text form if it is to be easy to find in search engines. This includes, for example, a title, headings and text.

If this is not the case, it makes it unnecessarily rcs data poland difficult for search engines to understand what these pages are actually about.
Other users gave the questioner the tip to transcribe the content of his podcasts, i.e. to include the spoken word as text on the pages. There is also structured data that relates to providers of audio content.
Why is text important?

Thanks to artificial intelligence, algorithms are already quite good at recognizing the content of images and videos as well as spoken text - but there is still a relatively high error rate.

This may be why Google & Co. have so far refrained from automatically transcribing audio files and tracks. YouTube already uses this technology and can access automatically generated transcripts for a video. However, these often still contain errors, for example when people in the video mumble or speak with a dialect. In this case, the content would be an error-ridden transcript that could only be evaluated as content to a limited extent.
This situation may change in the coming years. Until then, the following still applies: text is a must!
If you offer podcasts and videos on your site, you can, for example, provide them with a table of contents – this can be designed either as continuous text or as a bullet point list.
