José Luis Flórez: “You have to know how to get fully involved”

Post by bitheerani319 »

José Luis Flórez is the founder and CEO of Touchvie, the only Spanish - and European - start-up selected among the 50 best in the world at the annual TiE50 event in Silicon Valley 2016, a world-renowned conference in the technology sector. Today, Adecco's blog talks with José Luis to share details about the development of this venture and the keys to success in the technology sector.

What is Touchvie about and how did this idea come about?
Touchvie is a service that offers you a rcs data switzerland immersion experience in series and movies, by providing you with real-time answers to any question you have about what you are watching on the screen by simply pressing a button on your mobile phone.

The idea arose, on the one hand, because all of us who make up the “founding team” of Touchvie really like movies and series, and we were frustrated by the idea of having to navigate through different data sources linking together unconnected data when we had doubts about actors, places, clothes, cars… (or directors, script, historical context, etc.) instead of being able to access them in a simpler, more direct and unified way. And on the other hand because for the first time we have technology that allows us to identify in each image all the elements that compose it: an actor, a car, a watch or a shirt.

Is this your first venture? What challenges have you faced in order to carry it out?
No, before Touchvie I founded Neo Metrics (in 2003), which became very well-known in the world of advanced data analysis and where many of the best Spanish professionals in this field have come from. Our growth and the value of our work was such that Neo Metrics was bought by Accenture in 2012.

That doesn't mean the challenges were small. What we did with Touch vie had never been achieved before, and although we had the experience, the enthusiasm and the best possible team... it was a risky bet. To put it another way, the challenges were technical and logistical. On the one hand, it was about developing an unprecedented technology and, on the other, developing an entire company around it.
