Google is bringing innovations to the world of online shopping with the aim of improving the user experience and increasing the efficiency of sellers.
New features are coming, such as style recommendations, brand preferences, generative AI for product search, and virtual try-on technology. Come learn more about them.
What's new?
Google is piloting new product discovery features that aim to offer users a more personalized online shopping experience . These innovations include style recommendations, brand preferences, generative AI for product search, and virtual try-on technology.
The new features are currently only available on mobile devices in the U lithuania mobile database S. If you want to try them out, you can use a VPN to virtually redirect your device to the United States.
Style recommendations
The first of the new features Google is testing is style recommendations, which suggest products to users based on product ratings.
In practice, this means that after entering the search query “evening dresses” in Google Shopping, they will see a basic overview of products that they can rate based on their preferences, whether they like them or not. They are then shown products that are stylistically similar to those for which users have selected the option to like them. This is a similar approach to the way the streaming platform Netflix works when recommending video content.
Brand preferences
Google now lets shoppers filter products based on their preferred brands, so users see products that are relevant to them, increasing the likelihood of a purchase.
You can set and save your preferred brands in advance to make your search easier. To manage your preferences, tap the three dots next to "Popular from your favorite brands" to access the customization options in the "About this result" panel.
Generative AI for product search
Also in pilot testing is an AI image generator for shopping, available through the Search Generative Experience (SGE) within Search Labs. Users can tap “Generate Images” when searching for a specific item to see options based on their preferences.
This feature makes it possible to create customized and visually appealing product images that can appeal to specific market segments.
