Amazon already knows a lot better who orders their books, they are known for this. Their recommendation algorithm is strong, but still automatic. Your common sense can make the difference in serving the visitor. There are different ways to gain more insight into your customer. For example, think of the MBTI methodology , which has blown over from change management. An empathy map can also be illuminating.

6. Get your people and processes in order
All of the above points are not one-time assignments, they should be incorporated into the daily/weekly work of the website manager or web team to make it successful.
