Webmaster tool integration: where do you stand in the organic search results?

Post by Bappy11 »

instant search Google Analytics

Under 'home' are now the Dashboards, Information Events, Flow Visualization (to be rolled out in the coming weeks) and RealTime. Furthermore, the overview of accounts and profiles has been moved to the top left, allowing the user to quickly switch between the various profiles. Another good improvement is the search function with instant search, which already shows the names of reports while you are typing the search term.

Periodic emailing of reports and dashboards in PDF format is possible again
This week Google announced that it will soon be possible to email reports again and to do this automatically periodically, so that you can find the figures of the past week in your mailbox every Monday morning, for example. This also applies to dashboards, which can be sent as PDF. This functionality was still a big miss in the new version and will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks. This was also a condition for being able to stop using the old version, early next year. It is therefore advisable to switch to the new version and convert periodic reports that you currently have in the old version to the new, when this functionality is live in the new version.

Multichannel funnels (conversion attribution)
Many will have seen it already: the multichannel funnels. They can be found under 'Conversions' in the submenu of standard reports. In my opinion, this is one of the biggest improvements of Google Analytics this year. Thanks to the multichannel funnel, you have insight into which traffic sources contributed to achieving a goal (conversion), known as conversion attribution.

Conversion Attribution

Conversions in Google Analytics are attributed to the last traffic source by default, the so-called 'last click' principle. However, it often happens that you return to the site via multiple sources to place your order, for example. Just think of the various comparison sites that you will visit before you make the final purchase. With the Multichannel funnels you can see what the best czech republic phone number list conversion paths were for achieving your goal and you can therefore see exactly where conversions come from. This gives you insight into which traffic sources contributed to the conversions and whether the conversion was actually assigned to the right channel. With this insight, you may have to manage other metrics for certain traffic sources. You can perform various analyses on this and thus make the right choices in adjustments to your online marketing strategy.

Since this month, Google Analytics has integrated various functionalities of Google Webmaster Tools into Google Analytics. You can find these in the menu under 'traffic sources', where a heading 'Search engine optimization' has been added. The advantage of this integration is that you can now see within Analytics how the site performs on certain keywords. You can also see how many results were shown per keyword, where your site was in the Google results overview and how many visitors you ultimately had. This way you can keep track of whether you score well on your focus keywords and whether your SEO activities are already having the desired effect.

Keyword from organic of logged in users will no longer be passed on
On October 18, Google announced the remarkable news that keywords from organic search results from google.com will no longer be passed on to Google Analytics, for example, if a user is logged into their Google account. Google says that they value privacy and that they find protecting 'personalized search' very important. Hence the decision to automatically encrypt the connection between browser and server of logged-in visitors to google.com with SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). This means that search terms and search results are displayed on a secure connection, so that these search terms are no longer passed on. You can still see that there has been a visit from 'organic', but not which search terms were used.
