Social media allow us to maintain contacts, independent of place and time. On Facebook we have 300 friends and on Twitter 100 or 1,000 followers. In theory we are more social than ever. But is that really the case?

A media bring us, I also wonder whether we are as social as we think we are (or want to be). Or has the world turned into an army of megaphones that all shout for attention? It used to be more manageable. You had companies/brands that shouted for our attention and used mass media for that. Now we are all a brand, with our own media. A profile on Facebook is of course essential, as is a business profile on LinkedIn. We still have an account on Hyves, but we are gradually doing less japan phone number list with it. We also still use Twitter and share our locations on Foursquare. In short, everyone must be able to see where we are, with whom, what we are doing, what we are thinking and where we are going at any time.

What is social?
But is that the essence of social? Always making everything known to everyone? Broadcasting all day long what we do and think? Or is 'social' about real relationships? The kind you can only maintain with a limited number of people. Better 5 real friends than 500 friends on Facebook. They don't come when you need help moving.
