Companies wishing to maintain their presence on the Internet will have to rebuild their websites using an alternative platform.

In an official statement , Google has announced that starting in March 2024 , websites created using the free Google My Business service will no longer work. This measure will affect domains ending in: business.site

According to information shared on Google's official blog, visitors trying to access these websites will be automatically redirected to their business profile until June 10, 2024. Afterwards, users will encounter a "page not found" message .

This change should come as no surprise to the community, as Google announced in 2021 the transition from Google My Business to Google Business Profile , and the removal of free websites created using this tool is another step in this planned transition.

Google Press Release

Businesses that want to maintain their online presence will need to take action before the el salvador whatsapp data deadline. Google recommends creating a new website using alternative tools and then updating the business profile with the new website address. It also suggests several tool options for creating the new website such as Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, Shopify , and WordPress .

An important aspect to note is that companies that use Google Ads along with a website created on Google My Business will have to update their ads before March 1, 2024, making sure to redirect users to the new platform . Otherwise, the ads may not work correctly after the deadline set by Google.

If this Google update affects you, contact us so we can create a website before the aforementioned deadline.

If there are resources available, we recommend not implementing WPO improvements on the website that is online, in production. The ideal scenario is to work on a clone of the website in a server environment similar to the one we have, do the tests there and when everything is fine, move to production. Although that, unfortunately, will not always be feasible.
3.5. Comparison with initial situation
Once the battery of actions has been implemented, we must dust off what we saved in point 3.1 of the initial situation analysis. And with the same tools and configurations, we will measure the improvements we have obtained in the main metrics. It is important to choose them well and not overwhelm the client with an excess of data: 4-5 metrics in 2-3 tools should be enough.
3.6. User experience monitoring (GSC, Locker…)
In the end, the tools give us simulations of web performance in certain scenarios, from a certain location, device and browser. But these are not the real users of our website, who are the final recipient. That is why it is important to analyze the real experience of our users through tools such as Google Search Console , which gives us a wonderful report. Also, through Locker Studio we can configure a report that evaluates us month by month if we comply with the core Web Vitals, a marvel (see CruX report ).
3.7. Future recommendations
The series of actions resulting from the audit is very important, but once it is completed we must issue recommendations so that when the client makes changes at the content level he does not send everything to waste. We must especially establish protocols for how photos and videos will be uploaded in the future, since they are the most sensitive elements in terms of upload.
