How to crawl and create a sitemap

Post by sakibkhan22197 »

A sitemap organizes all the URLs of the associated website in a specific format. This format is machine-readable and stored in the Google Search Console. This greatly increases the likelihood that these URLs will be crawled during a search.

Checking an existing XML sitemap
A tidy and up-to-date sitemap is important for on-page optimization. This shows Google which content is particularly important to you. It also increases the chances of your content being crawled. To check an existing sitemap, you slovenia phone number data either need a copy of the XML file on your own computer or you need to copy it from the sitemap. The link to the sitemap can be found in the robots.txt file. The sitemap can also be viewed in the Google Search Console. The URLs can be found there under "Indexing" - "Pages" - "/sitemap.xml". In Screaming Frog, you can crawl the sitemap via "Mode" - "List". Once the search is complete, errors, redirects, duplicate URLs, and other things that need to be cleaned up in the sitemap can be viewed in the "Internal" tab.

Summary: Insert a copy of the sitemap via list mode → Crawl → “Internal” tab

To create a new XML sitemap, the relevant website must first be crawled. You can download the map under "Sitemaps" - "XML Sitemap" via "Export." There, you can configure all the necessary settings. Content that should not be crawled should be removed from the sitemap and blocked in robots.txt. There, you can specify specific pages and directories.
