To give you an initial idea of your budget for search engine optimization, here is a rough overview:
Small SEO budget Medium SEO budget High SEO budget
Up to €2,000 per month €2,000 – €5,000 per month From 5,000 € per month
Now we have assumed lump sums, which per se do not say anything about the performance achieved.
With Google Ads, the pure advertising costs tell us exactly how many clicks were generated and at what cost per click. Google Ads also automatically provides us with a click-through rate.
How nice would it be to know CPC and CTR for your organic traffic too.
This would give you a rough comparison to Google Ads traffic.
But SEO traffic is free, right?
Theoretically yes, but not when you consider all the cost and time resources involved.
We can calculate an SEO CPC by comparing SEO input and output, as I would like to demonstrate to you.
First of all, when making this comparison, please remember the following:
With the right tools and know-how, it is possible to place an ad in Google's top positions within a few hours or days (depending on the approval time).
Search engine optimization can't deliver this in this form because it's fundamentally different. SEO measures aim to positively trigger the Google algorithm or the ranking factors contained therein.
The algorithm analyzes websites based on various factors to present searchers with the mexico phone number data best possible results. These include topic-specific, relevant content and fast page loading times.
But the algorithm takes hundreds of factors into account, only some of which are revealed by Google.
SEO also means some leisure:
It can take several weeks or even months for Google to register such optimizations and consider them for ranking. But with a little patience, it pays off, because remember:
In contrast to SEA, there are no direct costs when clicking on your organic entries.
SEO therefore needs some time until the desired state or CPC settles down (so please don't give up just yet).
So let’s get to the question of how traffic and click costs can be roughly calculated in search engine optimization.
A key inspiration for me to tackle this topic was the presentation by Désirée Kellner and Isis Neuerbourg. I'd like to emphasize this at this point, as the basic idea behind SEO CPC isn't my own creative idea.
At our online marketing conference OMT, which we organize annually as an agency, the two spoke on this topic in 2019:
Traffic costs in search engine optimization
