What is certain: CES is now as much (if not more. a media conference as a technology show. because technology and media are merging into a single ecosystem. And the question for the media is no longer whether to be present in a connected car or on a connected TV: operating systems are merging. regardless of the broadcast medium. The question now is: how to be visible in these new voice-driven interfaces (which have become sophisticated thanks to generative AI.. what user experience will be offered. what content will be broadcast and how will it be protected? On the media and entertainment side. hardware tech innovations like LG and Samsung's invisible displays (which don't seem to fit a critical use case. have almost paled into insignificance compared to news of Amazon's entry into Prime advertising. or Disney's major ad tech announcements. including a major push into retail media with "shoppable" ads.


From a media insider’s perspective. this year’s CES marked the spain telegram completion of an evolution that began long before the international trade show. What was once considered a gadget-centric event is now recognized as a place to discuss the impact and evolution of technology in the media industry. The irony of the layoffs announced by Amazon.
