EUROPE WILL LEGISLATE ON THE USE OF COOKIES

The European Parliament will soon vote on whether users will be required to give their express consent for the installation of cookies on their system, a decision that could affect the functioning of the current internet system.

According to amendment 42 to the current European directive on the use of cookies , promoted by Alexander Álvaro, all portals must expressly notify the user before installing a tracking tool on bc data hong kong their system, in order to obtain their consent.

"This amendment, if adopted, would change the way the internet works today," said Kimon Zorbas, vice president of the European online marketing association IAB, who has urged lawmakers to reject the proposal.

IAB President Alain Heureux said that while many of these changes can be implemented by browsers, there is a danger that the legislation could be interpreted in a way that would be detrimental to user experience.

"For the consumer, we believe this is bad, and that its implementation is an unrealistic approach to the functionality of the internet. The amendment would need to be extremely clear, there is a danger that it could be interpreted in a dangerous way," said Heureux.
