Errors of the second type

, related to the discrepancy between the mental models of the user and the designer, can usually be identified only at the stage of usability testing of the site or based on the results of the analysis of requests to technical support of an already launched site and work with its built-in analytics systems - in our project, we have not yet received such data, but we hope that we have designed everything in accordance with the mental model of site visitors.

6. Recognition instead of remembering
Human short-term memory is limited, not to mention that it may be slightly worse in older users or in users with mental disabilities.

In form fields, for example, we used both placeholders and field captions so that the user not only saw an example of how he should fill in the field, but also constantly saw a reminder with its name above it. For example, if a person was distracted for a while and only put the caret in the field, but did not fill it in, then if there was only a placeholder in the field, the mexico phone number lookup user no longer sees and, perhaps, forgot what he should enter.

Breadcrumbs (the soft text at the top of pages that shows the sequence of menu levels the user has opened) and underlining the current menu section also help users see at a glance, rather than having to remember, where they are and how they can quickly navigate to other pages.

This example is also relevant to illustrate the heuristic about the importance of user freedom of action and control over the situation - understanding where you are and the ability to quickly and confidently navigate the site increases the user's peace of mind when browsing pages and can make the visit more comfortable and, potentially, longer.

7. Flexibility and efficiency of use
It’s good if the user can complete the same task in different ways – get to the desired point in different ways or use long and short solutions.

In our case, for example, the client is offered different purchasing options - they can make a purchase without registration (in one click), or they can become an authorized user (the advantages of such a status in the store are explained in detail to the client). Moreover, registration can be done both through social networks and using a phone.
