Do you know how to optimize your website for SEO ? The goal of search engine optimization is to make spiders not only find your website and its pages but also rank the relevance of the page so that it appears at the top of search engine results. The optimization process is not a one-time process but requires constant maintenance, adjustments, testing and monitoring.
Below I will show you a comprehensive four-step process to optimize your website for SEO. I recommend that you use this post as a checklist so you don't miss anything.
1. Target market analysis
Website analysis . Analyze keywords, visible text, and also code to determine crypto email database list how well (or poorly) you rank in search engines. For example, how much code does a page have compared to text?
Competitor Analysis – Examine the keywords in your content and also look at the keywords your competitors are ranking for to determine an effective positioning strategy. Choose the top five results from Google’s list to begin this process, broaden your search if necessary, and use tools such as semrush.com and keywordspy.com to help you with this analysis.
“Real” keyword nomination . Create a prioritized list of specific search terms related to your customer base and market segment. Start by asking yourself: what would I type into Google to find my company’s website? Ask your customers!
2. Keyword optimization and development
Keyword Analysis - Go beyond the word or phrase itself. Create a targeted list of keywords and related words. Review your competitors' keywords and other sources in your industry. Use your list to determine an indicative number of recent search engine queries and how many websites are competing for each keyword. Prioritize keywords, phrases, plurals, singulars, and misspellings. If searchers frequently misspell a keyword, you should identify and use it. Keep in mind that Google will try to correct the search term so use it carefully.
Evaluating your baseline ranking . You need to understand where you are right now so you can accurately assess your future rankings. Keep an Excel spreadsheet to start the process. Check weekly and as you get more comfortable check every month or month and a half. You should see improvements in website traffic which is a key indicator of your keywords progress. Some SEO experts will say that rankings are dead. Yes, traffic and conversions are more important but we will use rankings as another indicator to consider.
Goals and objectives . Clearly define your goals beforehand so you can truly measure your ROI from any program you implement. Start simple, but don’t skip this step.
Example: You may decide to increase your website traffic from a current base of 100 visitors per day to 200 visitors over the next 30 days. Or you may want to improve your current conversion rate from 1% to 2% over a specific period. You can start with top-level aggregate numbers but you should drill down to specific pages that can improve product, service, and business sales.
3. Content optimization
Create page titles . Keyword-based titles help establish the topic and direction of the page for your keywords.
Create meta tags . Meta tags can influence clicks but are not used directly for rankings since Google has not used the Keyword meta tag since 2009.
Place strategic search phrases on pages . Integrate your selected keywords into your website source code and existing content on designated pages. Be sure to apply a suggested guideline of 1-3 keywords/phrases per content and add more pages to fill out the list. Make sure related words are used as a natural inclusion. It helps search engines quickly determine what the page is about. In the past, 100-300 words on a page were recommended. Many tests show that pages with 800-2,000 words can outperform shorter ones. In the end, users, market, content, and links will determine popularity and ranking.
Develop new site maps for Google. Make it easier for search engines to index your website. An HTML version is the first step.
Submit your website to directories (limited use). SEO professionals do not submit your URL to major search engines, but it is possible to do so. A better and faster way is to get links back to your site in a more natural way. Links make your website indexed by search engines.
4. Measure and test continuously
Analyze your search engine rankings to determine the effectiveness of the strategies you have implemented, including evaluating keyword performance. Test the results of your changes and track them in an Excel spreadsheet (or whatever is most convenient for you).
It is important to measure, modify and add more keywords to your content as they are necessary to improve your search engine rankings. You should also review your links (internal and external) and make sure they are relevant to your business.
